Representative John Keenan Reacts to
Salem Harbor Station Agreement

SALEM – Representative John Keenan (D-Salem) was optimistic in reaction to this week’s announcement about an environmental agreement for Salem Harbor Station. As the former City Solicitor, Representative Keenan worked for three years on the power plant issue.

Before this afternoon’s press conference with Lieutenant Governor Kerry Healey and Mayor Stanley Usovicz, Keenan remarked about the Salem Harbor Station success story. “We’ve gone from a place of relative uncertainty about the future of the plant just a couple of years ago, to one where we know the future and we know that it is a good one,” said Keenan, “This agreement means the fiscal picture for our tax base is secure, the jobs at the plant are secure, and the protection of our air is guaranteed. I see it as a positive agreement and a good step forward for Salem Harbor Station and for the city.”
