Representative John Keenan to Rride in 15th
SALEM Representative John Keenan (D-Salem) will set off for the Berkshires tomorrow to ride in his 15th Pan Mass Challenge (PMC), a 192-mile bike-a-thon to raise money for the Jimmy Fund. The PMC raises more funds for charity than any other athletic fundraising event in the nation. Since its founding in 1980 the PMC has contributed over $122 million to the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. On Saturday, Representative Keenan will push off with nearly 4,000 other cyclists, including colleagues Representative Anne Gobi and Senator Robert Antonioni, from Sturbridge. The ride will conclude on Sunday in Provincetown. This years PMC will mark the fifteenth for Representative Keenan, who even took time out of an extremely busy campaign schedule last year to participate in the event. Since he began riding in the PMC in 1989, Representative Keenan has pedaled over 2,500 miles and raised over $80,000 for cancer research and treatment. He will ride this year, as he has in the past, alongside his brother, Dan Keenan. The brothers will ride in memory of their mother, Emma, who passed away in 1994 after a battle with lung cancer.
