Representative Keenan to address Salem
SALEM, MA Representative John Keenan (D-Salem) will address the monthly meeting of the Salem Chamber of Commerce on Tuesday, June 13th at 7:30am at the National Parks Service Regional Visitors Center on New Liberty Street opposite the Peabody Essex Museum. The event is free for Chamber members and $20 for non-members. Representative Keenan will address a number of important state issues that impact the city of Salem, including his work on the Joint Committee on Tourism, Arts, and Cultural Development, the recently enacted comprehensive healthcare reform legislation, and the on-going state budget deliberations for fiscal year 2007. Following his remarks, the floor will be open to questions from those in attendance. I look forward to the opportunity to speak with Salem's business leaders and others from our community who are able to attend and answer their questions about all that is happening at the State House that impacts our city, said Representative Keenan, who recently moderated a business roundtable in Waltham on the healthcare bill and spoke at a public forum sponsored by the Salem Chamber a number of months ago while the bill was still being debated. In addition to the recent healthcare legislation, there are a lot of important issues to discuss, including the forward momentum of the new courthouse project, tourism matters, and the state budget for next year.
