Representative Keenan offers remarks
at
inaugural voyage of new Salem Ferry
SALEM, MA – Representative John Keenan (D-Salem) joined a host of local and state officials for the inaugural voyage of the new Salem Ferry this morning. Following the ship’s departure from Central Wharf in Boston, the ferry docked at approximately 11:30am at the Blaney Street Wharf on Salem’s historic waterfront.
| Following the ship’s arrival,
a brief press conference featured speeches from a number of dignitaries,
including Rep. Keenan, Salem Mayor Kim Driscoll, Lieutenant Governor
Kerry Healey, Seaport Advisory Council Chairman Rick Armstrong,
and Transportation Secretary John Cogliano. In his speech, Rep. Keenan thanked all of the businesses, public officials, and nonprofits who had partnered together to make the project a success and pointed out that, as a member of the legislature’s Tourism Committee, the ferry represented to him precisely the kind of innovative investment in tourism that Massachusetts needs. “Welcome to the ferry!” Rep. Keenan declared to the assembled crowd. |
