Representative Keenan Speaks About
Service at SALEM, MA Representative John Keenan (D-Salem) attended the dedication service on Saturday afternoon at the new Salvation Army Center for Worship and Service on North Street in Salem. The new building has been under construction for several months and will enable the charitable organization to better serve the many individuals and families who utilize the groups community assistance and spiritual services. During the dedication ceremony, Representative Keenan offered a few words about the importance of service. I am privileged to be with you all today as we dedicate this beautiful new facility. We should also take this opportunity to re-dedicate ourselves to the core mission of service; to the mission of caring for the poor, the hungry, and the homeless in our own community; to the mission of lifting up those who have fallen and helping those who have lost their way. A community cannot thrive without service, because service is at the heart of every healthy community. The Salvation Army gets that, and thats why Im glad that weve got the Salvation Army. Theyve made Salem and the entire North Shore a better place to live and raise a family. As a lifelong resident of this very neighborhood, I am delighted to be here today, to be a part of dedicating this new building. Thank you for all that you do for Salem and the entire region. I hope your commitment to our city continues to shine for many years to come!
