Rep. John Keenan to ride in 16th Pan Mass Challenge

SALEM, MA – Representative John Keenan (D-Salem) will ride in his 16th Pan Mass Challenge (PMC) this coming weekend. The PMC is a 192-mile bike-a-thon to raise money for the Jimmy Fund. The event raises more funds for charity than any other athletic fundraising event in the world. Since its founding in 1980 the PMC has contributed over $145 million to the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.

Rep. Keenan will ride alongside nearly 4,000 other cyclists, including colleagues Rep. Anne Gobi (D-Spencer) and Sen. Robert Antonioni (D-Leominster), as well as Judge Samuel Zoll of Salem, who first recruited Rep. Keenan for the event many years ago. The cyclists will ride the 192 miles from the Berkshires to Provincetown over the course of the weekend.
This year’s PMC will mark the sixteenth for Rep. Keenan. Since he began riding in the PMC in 1989, Rep. Keenan has pedaled nearly 2,700 miles and raised over $90,000 for cancer research and treatment. He will ride this year, as he has in the past, alongside his brother, Dan Keenan. The brothers will ride in memory of their mother, Emma, who passed away in 1994 after a battle with lung cancer.

Donations to the PMC can be made securely online at www.pmc.org.
